(2010/03/15) Thanks to everyone who attended our Birds-of-a-Feather session on teaching web programming at SIGCSE 2010. It was great meeting so many other educators who are enthusiastic about teaching students how to program the web. We also got to meet some of Pete Sanderson's energetic students from Otterbein College. Check us out with Josh Castle, Auggie Fisher, and Matthew Ross!

(2009/7/21) We have just done a major update to our Supplements section. We have posted all of our latest lecture slides, end-of-unit programming exercises, programming lab handouts, discussion section handouts, homework assignment ideas, sample exams, code files and databases used in the textbook, some supplemental Ruby on Rails slides and material, and other resources. About the Textbook:

Welcome to the official authors' companion web site for Web Programming Step by Step. This textbook is designed for use in an introductory web programming course for students who have had a bit of prior introduction to programming (CS1-equivalent) or more. Web Programming Step by Step is written for a broad audience with material that has been used in the classroom with hundreds of undergraduates at the University of Washington, most of whom were not computer science majors.

One of the philosophies of the book was to take advantage of the web and move a lot of content online. Supporting online content, including end-of-chapter exercises, can be found in the Supplements section. Content will be improved and added to this section over time.
